As in all cities in Ukraine that have a metro (underground)system the metro in Dnipropetrovsk is fairly reliable and most areas of the city can be accessed, without too much trouble but beware of the “pick pockets” ! You will need 1 token for each trip whether you are going 1 stop or from one end of the city to the other. Tokens can be purchased from each metro station and cost about 12p each, at peak times there may be a queue, so it's always best to stock up with a few at a time. After all they are pretty cheap.

The small plastic tokens are used on the turnstiles and then you can make you way to the platform. All signs are in Ukrainian so if your cyrillic alphabet skills are not up to scratch, you may find it frustrating to navigate. It is likely all your maps will be in English, Ukrainian or Russian but never the both at the same time. This makes it confusing as what is on your map will not correspond to the signs you see at the stations.
