In Ukraine old people ( normally woman as their life expectancy is greater than the men) in need of medical care to stay in institution for elderly care. They are normally taken care by younger women in the family (daughters, daughters-in law, etc.)
Ukraine is a patriarchal country, so taking care of a child and going on a maternity leave, which is a certain break up in the career are mainly a female function
An Ukrainian woman would certainly feel uncertain and probably not willing to go out to work due to her arrival in a new country and not being familiar with the language and customs. However this my just be a transition period and she would change her mind after she has adapted.
Poor adaptation to the onother lifestyle is the next myth about Ukrainian women. Ukrainian women are accused of not knowing English or willing to learn it, not having a driver's license, not being familiar with credit cards and western payment procedures. This is not all true though. Many Ukrainian women posting their ads on dating sites have University degrees, thus have certainly studied English or/and another foreign language at university (English is also obligatory subject in a secondary school), may use it at work or attend classes. Being humble to speak is just explained by the lack of practice. Additional classes and live communication will help bridge the language gap soon.

On average, young Ukrainian women are slimmer than their western coevals. Ukrainian women are used to preparing food at home and so they have not become the victims of fast food. In addition to this the most of Ukrainian women make use of public transport and walk a lot.

They pay a lot more attention to looks and clothes than European or American women. It is very unlikely that you see many Ukrainian women wearing shapeless T-shirts or baggy jeans. Good higher education is also very important for a young girl even if she is not planning to work just after the graduation from the University but wants to dedicate herself to the future family and children. Most people in Ukraine consider a university education as being very important.

An Ukrainian doctor can have a very good qualification and education and get a paltry salary. But at the same time there is a very little possibility for an Ukrainian doctor to become a doctor in the US or elsewhere. An economist in Russia is not at all the same as in the USA or Europe. More often it's a somebody performing duties similar to those of an book keeper. There is also some misunderstanding with names of profession. A"Manager" seems to be the most frequent profession. There are just too many managers.
The word Manager is not always used correctly.In Ukraine it can be a sales person in charge of a department within a supermarket , someone on reception at a beauty shop is a manager, and also the director's assistant can be called a manager. Statistically the majority of women in Ukraine have got a job. In many cases Ukrainian women even happen to be breadwinners. But look deeper into the reasons and you will find that most women in Ukraine work not for a career but they work to get money. Finances in Ukrainian families with children are often so touch-and-go even with both spouses working that some women do not even use all the unpaid maternity leave to which they are legally entitled because their families cannot afford to live on the husband's salary alone. And in many cases the husband does not work!!
Ukrainian Women and money
The attitude to money on behalf of Ukrainian women may seem unusual to you. A lot of western men are afraid of scammers and that fear creates serious problems in communicating with Ukrainian women. If you really like a girl you shouldn't be afraid to seem too romantic. Send her flowers, candies or presents to show your affection. Of course words are important, but your deeds are the best token of your feelings and we recommend not to send money to ladies you have never met, even if the reason seem cogent enough (illness, travel expenses, internet expenses, small salary etc)
There is one more thing that you should know about money and an Ukrainian women. Ukrainian women are accustomed to be the binding force in the family and in most families the women take almost complete responsibility for managing the household (probably because practically all money are spent for food, clothes and home expenses), because the family budget is usually managed by the wife. Unfortunately the constant lack of finance and frequent economical crises haven't taught Ukrainian women to plan a budget, sometimes when there is money it is often spent in a hasty way under the influence of a moments wish or urgent needs. This is one of the most frequent reasons for misunderstanding in international families. You will have to find a happy medium in order not to let your girlfriend use you and at the same time you mustn't seem too 'mean' or 'tight fisted' with money!
