Welcome to Nikolaev
Nikolaev , Николаев, Mykolaiv or Миколаїв is a city situated in southern Ukraine, only 65 km (40 miles) from the Black Sea, the city is an important river port. With a population of roughly 500,000 residents, many finding employment in the ship building industry or in supporting mechanical engineering, power engineering and metallurgical industries.
The city is also famous for its bridges, standing on the bridges you can see the city in all its beauty.
The quay is one of the most visited areas in the city. It’s an excellent area to go for a walk, relax, meet friends, play with children, watch the Ingul River, eat ice-cream or do whatever you wish. This city is one of the few in Ukraine that really makes the most of the river for recreation
Again this city is typical of many in Ukraine and here you will find all the usual monuments, statues etc. from the Soviet era.
Another popular place where the locals spend their free time , go for a walk or meet their relatives and friends is Sovetskaya Street it is the central 'walking' street in the town centre! Here there are a lot of cafes, pizzerias, shops and restaurants. It is a perfect place for shopping , just going for a walk or 'grabbing a beer' at one of the many bars and watching the world go by!
